AOKOH is a Zürich-based duo operating both locally and internationally at the intersection of sustainable development, spatial research and architecture. With a focus on passive design, our work emphasizes energy efficiency and cost-conscious construction through thoughtful orientation, material selection, and contextual sensitivity. We engage in projects from the earliest stages — feasibility assessments, development strategies and conceptual studies — through to detailed design and implementation, combining architectural thinking with a broader understanding of project development.

Aquilina de Soto (ES) has worked extensively across Switzerland, Spain and Japan, bringing deep international expertise and a sharp eye for execution excellence. She holds a MAS in Housing from ETH Zurich and a Master’s degree in Architecture from ETSAB in Barcelona. Known for her analytical rigor and precision, Aquilina excels at navigating complex design and construction challenges with clarity and efficiency. Her approach is rooted in a deep understanding of housing, systems thinking, and high-performance architecture, making her a driving force in both property development, design and delivery.

Jakob Uhlenhopp (CH / US) brings a cross-disciplinary perspective shaped by his international experience in Switzerland and the United States. He holds a Master’s in Architecture from the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University. As a licensed Passive House Consultant, Jakob combines a strong foundation in traditional architecture with hands-on experience in the energy sector, focusing on the integration of new technologies and sustainable systems into the built environment. His diploma project, The Solar Society, was awarded the SIA Prize, highlighting his commitment to climate-conscious technology and innovation.
